Nathan Crothers &the VOICES are a Belfast-based punk band consisting of founding and only member Nathan Crothers. A former director of Catalyst Arts and current studio member of Flax Arts Studios, Crothers holds a Master’s in Fine Art from Ulster University.
Drawing on the Theatre of the Absurd and the anarchic traditions of punk, Nathan Crothers &the VOICES use play, humour, and audience participation to explore community and connection through live performance.
Nathan Crothers &the VOICES debut solo show, “Untitled” Stand-Up Comedy, sold out at the Strand Arts Centre, Belfast, 2023. NC&TV were Artist in Residence at The MAC, Belfast, presenting “World Tour, 2025”, supported by the Arts Council NI. In 2026, NC&TV performs “In The Beginning, There Was Only…” at Maynooth Comedy Festival and Bitter Fringes.

Nathan Crothers & the Voices transcend the stage, drifting beyond the waking world into the liminal space between sleep and consciousness. Here, comedy takes on new forms, embedding itself in the architecture of your dreams, where reality bends, memory warps, and anything is possible.
“IN YOUR DREAMS” is a bold, boundary-pushing performance where stand-up unfolds not in a theatre, but in the dreamscape of the audience. Blurring the lines between performer and observer, it plays with the fluid nature of spontaneity, memory, and collective experience.
Free from the limits of physical space and linear time, this immersive experiment in comedy exists only in the subconscious—untethered, unconventional, and unforgettable.
About the Artwork “IN YOUR DREAMS”:
IN YOUR DREAMS is an art installation that functions as an intervention, responding to and occupying physical and digital platforms, press releases, and the conversations it generates. The work expands on the nature of exhibition-making and curation, authorship, and audience participation.
As an intervention, it experiments with language, humour, and absurdity as a means of engaging with the personal day-to-day experiences of the public’s private lives. Dreams exist as both private and collectively symbolic spaces, likewise, this installation is an attempt to occupy intra-between* spaces of the subconscious, by subliminally permeating public systems within the gallery itself, i.e. artwork information (the blurb & press release), marketing material/systems, and physical interventions.
This is a work in process, that is currently situated within the year-long artist-in-residence with The MAC (Jan-Dec 2025).
